Note to all pro dancers: If you want to win on Dancing with the Stars, make sure your partner is an Olympian.
Shawn Johnson became the third Olympian to make the Dancing with the Stars finale and, like Kristi Yamaguchi and Apolo Anton Ohno before her, the Olympian was crowned the Dancing with the Stars champion of season eight. She is also the youngest star not only to win the series, but also to compete.
An Olympian who has made the finals of the hit reality show has yet to lose the trophy.
Johnson looked absolutely shell-shocked when her name was announced.
"This has been the most amazing experience ever. I've grown so much. Thank you so much," the gold-medal gymnast said after host Tom Bergeron announced she had beat out Gilles Marini and Melissa Rycroft for the title. Less than 1% separated Johnson from runner up Marini. Johnson's partner, Mark Ballas, looked even more excited and surprised than his 17-year-old partner.
