36岁的保罗·珀特斯是英国一个普通的手机推销员，2007年他参加了《英国达人》节目，由于外表平淡无奇，观众和评委都对他表示出轻视和怀疑。然而当他开口唱出普契尼的《图兰朵》歌剧选段《今夜无人入睡》后，全场的人都被震住了，因为没有人想到一个手机推销员能唱出如此般天籁。

之后，这段视频被传上YouTube网站，继而在全球引发关注，成为媒体的焦点。保罗·珀特斯后来获得了当年《英国达人》节目的总冠军，并签约成为索尼BMG音乐娱乐公司旗下歌手，同年8月推出首张个人专辑《机遇》（One Chance），该唱片在多国销量都达到白金。

Julian Jarrold is in discussions to direct One Chance, a film about the life of Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts.

The Becoming Jane helmer is close to making a deal to direct the movie for producers Simon Cowell, Brad Weston, Mike Menchel and studio Paramount.

Matthew Vaughn, the filmmaker behind Layer Cake, Stardust and the forthcoming Kick-Ass, is expected to help fund the project through his Marv Films company, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Justin Zackham is writing One Chance, which will show how Potts, a former mobile phone salesman, made one final attempt to become a professional opera singer by entering an ITV talent contest.

Potts won the show and became a worldwide phenomenon when a video of his audition was uploaded onto YouTube.
